Live Like A River Queen
This Queen Anne style Victorian home was built in 1893 by James Davis. This large home overlooks the Mississippi River in Keokuk, Iowa. With five bedrooms and three and a half baths, this home has lots of possibilities. On the main level beautiful parquette floors and large molding can be found in the formal entryway, living room, dining room, and music room. In the living room the wood buring fireplace makes a great focal point. Two other fireplaces can be found in the dining room, and music room. Throughout the house you can find cherry, birdseye maple, cedar, maple, oak, and pine woodwork. Everyroom except for the kitchen and bathrooms contain hardwood floors. For the last twenty years the current owner has been working to restore the home back to the original beauty. On the main level all woodwork has been hand stripped. All but two bedrooms and the kitchen have been fully renovated having insulation, drywall, and new electric added. On the second level there are two bathrooms and four bedrooms (one bathroom is attached to the master bedroom). From the second floor you have access to the sleeping porch, a room with windows on three sides to allow for great air movement. On the third floor is the fifth bedroom, third bath, and large attic. The home is heated with very efficient steam heat. In the winter months bald eagles can be seen soaring through the sky, floating on the ice, and setting in the trees on the bluff and throughout the area. With the spectacular Mississippi River view this home is a perfect retreat.
