| 1887 Victorian, rare Montana territory historic property |
| History c1870's dusty Montana prospectors first began dreams of developing the region's hot springs to rival the famed eastern resorts such as Saratoga Springs in New York. The hot springs was first know as Brewer's Springs founded in 1866. Early users were the local Indians, the springs were well known for its healing virtues. Then Dr. Parberry, who came to make his fortune in gold but found his fortune as a 'camp doctor' - early 1870's started referring his patients to the healing waters. Dr. Parberry bought Brewer's Springs in 1877, renamed it to White Sulphur Springs, laid out lots for the town and left the center for future development into a healing spa resort. 1887 built a fine home now know as the Ringling House.
Early 1890's it was rumored that John Ringling, Ringling Circus family, and his brothers planned to move their circus's winter quarters to this area. John came to this valley in 1908, purchased several ranches, bought Dr. Parberry's large house. Added on to all three floors because the house was not big or grand enough. The valley people viewed the Ringlings as people just short of royalty. 1910 Ringling built a railroad line from White Sulphur Springs to catch the Melwalkee line to ship cattle and bring customers to the thriving hotel and spa. They used to have jam sessions at the house in White Sulpur Spinrgs. All it took was a banjo and a guitar and away they would go.
John's early dealth left his widow and children in debt, so after renting some of the rooms out for a while she decided to sell the property. The current owner's family bought the house from the Ringling family in the mid 1940s.
the Seller has lived in this house over 60 years.
